Golden Ripples

Here is another shot from my recent Western Australia trip. In Cottlesole Beach, I found these interesting patterns constantly appeared when waves washed onto the beach. Under the strong sun light, the ripples were shining.

A CPL was used to cut down the reflection so that some sand details become visible under the water.

I am not quite sure if this image is interesting to people. Your comments are much appreciated. Thanks.

Unlike Charlie, I find the ambiguity of scale to be part of the charm of this image. It's the interplay of shape and line that makes this a very effective abstract and you don't need some totally arbitrary indicator of scale to appreciate that.

Lovely work! The shapes put me in mind of fish-scales...

Scale is of no matter for me - I can tell that it is sand and water. A fine abstract. A might try a boost in contrast overall to emphasize the textures/shadow.

Excellent patterns and light Yan! Scale doesn't matter in abstracts for me any way.

Yan, as abstracts go we might not know size, area covered, or even what we are looking at per se, hence, it's a bit of a trick to our eyes and brain as a result, As such I like it from that aspect.
I do agree that a slight boost in contrast would enhance the depth of detail overall....

I always like these kind of shots and this is no exception. The repeating lines and patterns in the water are really nice.

Dear all,

Thanks for your kind comments, which definitely help me to get more ideas on this kind of image. I'll try to enhance the contrast to see the effect.

Charlie, I especially thank you for spending some time to view this image and gave me your thoughts. In terms of scale, I took this shot about 1meter high from water, but this didn't show up as no reference was give from my image.

Intriguing patterns. I think it makes for a fine monochromatic abstract.

I certainly like the patterns, Yan. Zhang Might be inclined to play with this a bit more in PS and see where it goes. The abstract character could maybe be play up a bit more.

Interesting photograph. I would have liked to see a tighter composition. The colors and detail in the photograph are captivating and well captured.
