Yosemite Laurel

This is the last of my Yosemite autumn images. I really liked the color and shape of the leaves, and had to wander about a bit amongst the boulders to find a nice arrangement.

I used a few of TK's luminosity masks and some small burns. The image is full frame.

I know these plants well and always like how they added life to their often lifeless host. I'm also glad that you took this one in LF as it will show off all the lovely details in there. Great shot, Preston.

Gorgeous Preston. Your comp is very nice, and I like the texture of the underlying stone. Well done.

Yeah I have seen those here in Europe (if I am not mistaken) and they do make a great subject for intimate compositions. The composition works very well with the inclusion of rock at the bottom. The fallen, brownish leaves are great to have. It is a subtle effect, but I think it adds to the strength of the composition.

Beautiful, Preston. Love the composition, and how the fallen leaves provide such a nice backdrop for the yellow leaves. The detail is superb even with the limits of the internet. A print must be truly stunning.

Great color and detail. Composition is great too - I would love to see a large version of this. My only nit is it seems some of the highlights in the leaves are a little high - but its hard to tell on the web.

Gorgeous colors between the yellows, carmel, and blueish grey. It's an elegant comp, and the carmel color of the fallen leaves really sets the yellow off against the rock!

Real pretty, Preston. Love the colors and contrast of the leaves against the rock. This one definitely works for me.

Well done, Preston, beautiful detail and the yellow's really stand out against the background, even on my funky monitor. :toast:

I love how you filled the frame with the yellow leaves but have left just a touch of the boulders come through in the corners.I also like how the two colours interact.Beautiful capture Preston. Cheers

Love it Preston. Great job of filling the frame with the autumn color. I too really like the inclusion of the granite as well as the brown, fallen leaves beneath. Great color scheme.

The only thing I can think of now would be a slight crop from the top to really help bring out more of the granite at the bottom and make this even more intimate. Perhaps a corresponding crop from the right side if you want to maintain your format. But a minor suggestion regardless. I think this is wonderful as captured and presented. Colors and processing look great btw.

This is beautiful! I love the way the leaves flow across the frame. The contrast with the granite in the background looks great too.
