Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1.3 secs @ f16, -1.7 fill flash

Unfortunately I did not get anything appropriate for the winter theme so I'm going to start a short series of these iris blooms before Chrissy plants them in the garden. Shot in a makeshift "studio" in our garage with the door open and indirect late afternoon light. All comments welcome. >=))>

Bill:
These are really nice looking irises. The black bg is great for showcasing them. Like the color and texture of the petals. Very well done.

There is a small triangular bright spot just along the second left petal of the forward iris which can be easily removed..

Hi Bill! The colors here are wonderful (the yellow just pops) and I like the presentation too. I do feel it is a tad too tight but still quite nice.

Beautifully done, Bill ! I like the not quite symmetrical composition, with its pairs of flowers and the bud LL - there's a kind of stateliness about the image and lovely colouring too.

Wow does the black background set these gorgeous flowers off! Magnificent color and your home studio worked extremely well for the lighting. :toast:

Love the colors and comp in this one BIll. I personally enjoy the tight frame-filling comp. Looking forward to seeing more of these beauties!

I've found the Iris a difficult subject but I think you've done a nice job here Bill. Maybe a little tight as Christine mentioned but it's a very minor nit. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
