Castle Mountain Sunset

This is an image from back in March 2009.
One of those icons of the park I could never resist shooting no matter how many times it's been done.
I had processed it once before and I think I even posted it here but I never was happy with it. Oringinally it was a panaormic format, 10 image stitch.
This time around I ended up on this crop, which I think is much better. It uses 4 images.
I actually quite like the result, I feel like it's something a bit different then the usual take on Castle. Ok, maybe not THAT different. I found this location after hiking south along the river from the Junction, where most of the photos are made.
Curious what you all think of the comp and processing. I went nearly 6 months without even opening photoshop and I seem to have forgotten what the heck I'm doing. Feels like it anyway.

As always, I much appreciate any feedback.

Gorgeous. Love the foreground and light. Personally, however, I prefer a tighter crop with about 2/3 of the sky eliminated.

A wonderful vantage point Mitchell. Love the clarity of the water and rocks below. The alpen glow on Castle Mountain is beautiful. When I visited Banff in 2009, we stayed at the base of Castle Mountain in some comfortable cabins. Wish I found this vantage point since it is extraordinary.

I've seen a number of photos of this icon, but never quite like this. Very nice.

Love the format. I could lose some of the sky - but terrific presentation with that sweet light

Looks great! The light and comp are very appealing. There is a certain harmony of color between the foreground rocks and the mountain that add a great deal of coherence to the image.

The light on Castle Mountain is stunning!!! I would definitely crop off most of the sky. Maybe even crop out the trees on the left, really focus on the balance between Castle mountain and the rocks in the foreground.

The range of red, orange and yellow are very captivating. The neat/far perspective, white band of snow in the mid-ground, sunlit Castle, and trees standing against the yellow sky really do it for me. I might crop the top to eliminate the dark blue RHC, as it doesn't seem to compliment the color scheme. Very nice!

Hi Mitch,
This is a great shot! You might consider a more square cropping. Try eliminating roughly the top 1/5 of the image. It won't be a perfect square, but it foucuses the eye more on the mountain, the foreground rocks, and on the reflections which are truly outstanding! The image also looks slightly tilted. You might try to straighten it. These are minor things that will give your imag a major pop! Great job!!

I love those FG rocks and the spectacular light on them. I agree with cropping some of the sky, at least of the brighter wisp in the upper centre. :toast:

Beautiful shot! Love the colors and details of the FG rocks. The reflection is great and the colors on the mountain are stunning of course. I'm seeing a slight glow from the upper left side that you could easily bring down a tad for a more natural look.
