Near North Bend, WA, on the North Fork Snoqualmie River. This is a view from a very high rugged bank, which I did not want to scramble down (or back up!) Not too many points of view from where I was- lots of tree branches blurred in fg, etc. As it is, I did some pretty extensive cloning of sticks and other intruding fg elements because I was taken in by the water flow and the unusual color of rocks in the top part of the image, and the overall color palette of the scene. I didn't want to forsake the image because of some crummy sticks!

D700, 70-200 @ 140 mm, tripod, circ.pol; f 18, 1/8, ISO 200.

Appreciate comments on the comp and my decision to take the shot and work on it in post-processing. And of course, any other thoughts you have are welcome. Thanks.

Catherine, I think it was so worth taking the shot and working on it in postprocessing. I say that because it's a very, very appealing scene with what looks to be a bend in the river and some of the most beautiful river rocks I've ever seen. The water flow is exquisite, as is your processing. Really beautiful image.

Catherine: What a delightful scene and a fine capture. I especially like the color of the water and BG rocks. Nicely done.>=))>

This scene is well worth the effort in processing. The tan rocks on the top add a lot.

I like the compression of the layers with your tele, the colors, and the water movement. The shape of the tan rocks at the top are very interesting. Beautiful work!

Nice shot Catherine. You did a nice job with the composition given your limited perspective. The water looks good at 1/8 sec and the details are great.
I'll try to get one up tonight taken just downstream form this.

I like the diaganol flow here. Its proabbly not the most exciting river scene ive seen, but i think ti would work well as part of a larger series. Ive been to N Bend numerous times (on my way to climbing mt Si for the 100000th time  )

I like all the textures and the diagonal flow of the water. Could see burning down the top a bit to better frame the water.

I like the shutter speed chosen Catherine, it fits the power of the river. I might crop a little off the top just above where the water begins.
