Magnificent Hummingbird
by Keith Bauer
This is from Costa Rica in the Savegre Valley. I was happy to get a nice clean shot of the back while the bird was perched with a nice background. The purple on the right is a large OOF purple flower.
There were hummingbird feeders located near this perch to attract the hummers.

What a background and so complimentary to your hummer. A very nice head turn so we are not just looking at the back. I too wish maybe you had stopped down a bit so as to get the entire perch sharp since it's so nice looking. Not a deal killer by any means. The white behind the eye, is that normal? Very nice image Keith.
Yes David, the white behind the eye is one of the identifying characteristics of the the Magnificent Hummer. Thank you for your comment. Keith
The background colors here are perfect for "framing" this colorful gem of a bird. Love the pose, plumage colors, and the head turn. Is that a small bit of pollen on the bill? I think it adds interest what ever it is, glad you didn't "clean" that up. A species I'd like to see one day.
Keith.
