Great shot- Beautiful warm light and perfect composition (the long thin lines of the trees enhance the subject)- Bravo, Fabio

Hi Andrea,

A very simple yet very pleasing composition - I like this! The strong vertical lines complement (and help direct my eye to) the bear well. Nice overall colour palette. If the image were mine I'd be tempted to crop off the thin out-of-focus zone along the bottom of the frame (which would also function to "ground" the bear). But that's simply a personal preference issue.

One procedural thing I must, as moderator, bring up: Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from discussions I've had with other NPN members who've shot there, the bears in most or all of the shots from Finland are of bears that have been baited in for the purposes of photography. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with posting images of baited animals in this gallery, but NPN guidelines for the Wildlife Gallery state:

"Wildlife Gallery (formerly Fauna) - Wildlife other than birds. Images of captive animals or staged, set-up (including use of bait), and studio shots must be stated as such."

Please absolutely feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about this (i.e., if this is a shot of a non-baited bear). No offense intended, simply pointing out the guidelines - which can be viewed in full here:

Cheers...

You're right Brad, in most of the shots of bears from Finland, bears are baited in for the purposes of photography and this is no exception, certainly I did not want to hide this.
Unfortunately I did not remember this NPN guideline, I'm sorry and I apologize.
greetings

Hi Andrea,

No worries at all - I assumed it was simply overlooked and not hidden!! The posting guidelines have JUST been updated (a few days ago) to make these things clearer...so it's absolutely not surprising at all that you might have missed this.

Cheers...

Very nice picture! I really like the colours on the Grizzly, and the sharpness is really nice!

Love the vert. comp. Really emphasizes the trees in the background.
