Wildfire

In cleaning up old files, I came across this image from August 2007 of the smoky air from the wildfires on Mt. Hood. Taken from the Warm Springs Reservation, east of Mt. Hood at sunset.
Just something a little different.

Sandy,

Very nice colors, especially for smoke. I was in the E. Sierra near Lone Pine a few summers ago during a smoke filled sunset but got nothing like this intensity out of the sky. With the sky the dark fg doesn't bother me. Nice.

That's some intense light here and definitely a matter of taste. I like it. As I find the most action going on below the dark center area, I might consider a strong panorama crop so that the image is enclosed by the two dark bands. The clouds above just add an extra layer of complexity for me that I don't really need. Just a thought.

Neat how the sun seems to be holding up the clouds.

Sandy,

The word that came to my mind was also mentioned by Andreas: Intense! I have old 35mm skies that looked like this. I really like the effect of the sun and effects around it - very unique. I also like that lone tree or whatever that is breaking up the silhouetted horizon. No nits or suggestions from me.

I really like this one Sandy. The colors are awesome and I like how the sun rays create a pyramid shape which mimics Mt Hood.

Fantastic image Sandy. I just think that you could open a little more the shadows on the right on the mountain area!

Wildfires, they always make me sad. A necessary part of life, I know, but...... They make for some great conditions for photography too! This is very dramatic.

I like the effect on the sun that the smoke created, along with the fiery skies.

Looks quite otherworldly, Sandy. Love the graphic quality and the deep rich color. Just enough detail to keep interest througout.
