Really nice forest scene Chris, the comp is wonderful. It may be personal preference, but I would brighten the snow at least another half stop (or more), it looks somewhat dull (brownish), at least on my monitor.

As I've stated many times on this forum I'm a b&w guy at heart and this looks like a textbook b&w winter scene to me. Bump the white just a bit as Zach mentioned.

Okay, here's a brightened up version. I can see a black and white here too, but I'm partial to the color in the bark of these ponderosa pine.

Beautiful. Different trees, but reminds me of some of Bev DooLittle's work....now where are the hidden painted horses and warriors....good re-post. the snow looked dark on my screen, too. keep the browns...don't go BW. Bev has had a lot of luck with those browns...you should look at her paintings.

Image is excellent and I see no real difference in the second version. The very heavy border bugs me though- maybe keep it to the same width of the strongest tree? Beautiful detail, nice work!

Man, the thumbnail just grabbed me instantly. Very strong compostion with just the right amount of white "base" on the bottom: and the big verion has great details. Colors are indeed nice, but would also be wonderful in B&W.

Chris,
Yet another excellent winter capture from Yosemite. I thought the whites and color cast looked great in the original, but the repost is excellent as well. I too like that you kept the color and it looks like you're still holding some detail in the bark. this looks like the spot we stopped at back in January, on Northside drive?
Great stuff Chris.

Sweet! Great winter scene, Chris. I also thought the whites were fine in the original. And id definitely stick with color here--the contrasts are excellent here.

Beautiful. Another wonderful winter scene Chris. Both versions look ok to me. I like this in color too. Lucy is right, this does have a Bev Doolittle look to it. Nice work, Chris.

This is great, the repost slightly better, love the color of the trees against the snow. The titled tree in the center makes this unique and visually interesting.

Very nice, Chris. I, too, like the way the pines stand out from the rest of the scene. Very effective composition, also.

I should have mentioned, Chris, that I do like the subtle browns in the tree trunks against the white branches so I totally understand leaving this in color. I'm just always looking for great b&w landscape images - just aren't enough of 'em these days imo.

I like both versions, Chris, maybe the darker first one is a bit more mystic, what fits in well with the scene. The barks are essential elements, you show their texture in a fine way. A pleasant shot!
