Viera Wetlands, Viera, Florida
Raw file processed in PSE9, cropped on left, right and top

I thought this was a beautiful pair of anhingas. I have several poses, and I liked this pose the best, though it may not be as sharp as a couple of others. All feedback on anything about this image would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Excellent to catch a pair together, and in a complimentary position!
The heads are a tad soft - as if you were focusing on the larger body, which is easier to do - but the colors are especially nice, especially of the eyes!
I'd only suggest to leave a bit more on the right, so they are not so centered, and to crop out the palm bits around the necks.
Really nice image!

What a beautiful couple! Their pose it perfect but the picture does look a little bit soft, especially on the larger view. Maybe some sharpening would help?

There are so many nice characteristics of this image, Barbara: pose, colors, comp all look great to me. The very slight softness is the only deficiency that I see. You can try applying sharpening a bit more but I doubt that you can remedy it. I think the thing to do is to really figure out what caused the softness and resolve to try to avoid it in future. Use the Canon software to see where your focus point was. Also, think about how much smaller an aperture you could have used here and its effect. Great try!! :toast:

Really like the similar, parallel poses and the contrasting colors of the two birds Barbara. I also enjoy the setting. As you say, the birds could be a little sharper but they're not off by a lot. I enjoy this shot and I'm delighted that your session shooting with Ron was productive for you in so many ways.

Barbara,

Love the similar head angles of the birds and how this shows the colors of the lores in breeding plumage. I agree the heads are a touch soft and to my eye it looks like the focus was on the palm fronds in front of the lower torso of the male bird. I'm not sure that further sharpening can correct the softness I see but perhaps you have one more from this series where the heads are sharper?

Really nice looking image Barbara. Very natural looking with good colors. I like the comp as posted. The bird's are a bit soft and I also do not think more sharpening will help this. If anything it will make it look less natural and too contrasty. This was a great pair and they posed well. I am sure you have a sharper version in your files, but this is still nice. Cheers.

Hi Barbara,
The lighting and poses are nice. I generally stop down at least 1 stop when working with 2 birds together. However I can´t tell if the depth of field was sufficient or not because both birds are quite soft. You may have missed your focus point here or just didn´t hold the camera steady enough - although it looks like you had plenty of shutter speed. :toast:
