I've been visiting this nest as often as I feel up to the drive. The baby is getting big so fast and very brave as well. He keeps getting closer and closer to the edge of the nest. I could watch these guys all day long.

Cheryl,

This is my type of image as it portrays a scene rather than a closeup detailed image that is common. Great job getting this close to a family of Bald Eagles.

Really nice family portrait here. Tough to catch both adults on a nest, and the chick in view also - good job!
Good detail evident in the larger version - thanks for including it - and great habitat image!

Cheryl,

Love the family portrait and the interactions between the three birds. The setting is wonderful and the angle doesn't appear too steep because you have to stand on the east side of the pond a distance away. It will be awhile before this chick fledges, it still has shafts on the wing feathers. The only issue I see is that there is a fine, light halo around the birds and that may have come from resizing, try using bilinear instead of bicubic when resizing. I find that step with blue skies or some water can eliminate halos

nice to see you posting, Cheryl. a neat shot--there is a lot to look at, in a good way. I'm interested by the nest, the habitat of the pine, the family interaction, the young bird, and the landing adult, who apparently forgot he's supposed to be bringing fish, not nesting material, at this stage of the game. Really nice DOF and composition. I might slightly reduce exposure on the adults' heads, but this laptop monitor is a little on the bright side, so it might be me.

This is really nice, Cheryl. A lot of good action here. It tells the whole story. Might be worth making friends with someone that owns a 600mm lens. Still, you did very well. :toast:

Very nice Cheryl. I like the "story" in the image as well. The comp is great and all the birds look pretty sharp. Agree with Mia about he halo, but that can be taken care of.

This nest is in a great location for us as well as the birds. They are in a perfect spot for photographing yet they are safe from harm and on the water.
