This picture begs to be called "lonely heart" but I resisted! I like this picture for it's simplicity and the contrast of colors.

What a beauty. Perfectly composed and the BG is to die for. Just outstanding. My heart "gushes" over this one.

Very lovely!
Great colors and color contrast, detail, and the simple stem and BG is perfect.
Could use a bit of noise reduction to the BG, imo.
Can't wait til the bleeding hearts are out here - one of my favorite flowers.

There is strength in simplicity. I like this very much. It is clear and detailed and it is what it is.

Beautiful color palette and strong composition. I like it very much as posted but I'd also consider cloning out the small branch and reworking that area on the large branch so that the sweeping curve isn't broken. Might be tricky to do. Again, outstanding as posted.

Carolyn: I go back and forth on the small branch but at the end of the day I like how the two branches fill the upper corner. Fantastic capture of the bloom. Bravo.>=))>

Yes, there is more noise in the picture than I would like. It was fairly dark shooting so when lightening it I started to get noise. I need to figure out how to do noise reduction in my editing program (Elements). (Or I could have added extra light while shooting.)

Carolyn, this is absolutely slendid!! I love the colors and the gentle arc of the stem.
Sometimes finding one of these beauties that is isolated is a chore. Well done!
If you're using Elements, noise reduction is under the Filter tool bar option. I would apply the reduce noise filter, and possibly use a layer mask to just apply it to the background. It's hard to tell at this size, but it doesnt look like there's much noise on the blossom and stem.
Also, you mentioned the noise was introduced by lightening the shot. Depending on how dark the BG is, you may be able to use masks and just lighten the flower and stem and leave the BG alone.

I love the picture for the same reasons that you have written. In the Dicenta flowers I see a little swimming turtle; more than a heart. An excellent work, Carolyn.
Take care.
