Setaro's Dwarf Chameleon

I found this little guy while leading a workshop in St Lucia. These chameleons are one of the only red data listed chameleons in South Africa and can only be found in a tiny strip of land near the St Lucia Wetland. Being night-time it was easy to spot him as they are almost luminous against foliage when you point a torch at them. I lit this little one using my standard home-made softbox from camera left, while precariously perched at the end of a rickety ladder.

Any c&c is always welcome and appreciated.
Thanks for looking

E

Wow, stunning photo! I like your comp; one wonders what he is watching. Great detail and he really shows off against the black BG.

Nice! Night images are difficult but your DIY softbox did a great job.

Great job with the lighting. It retains all of the skin texture and the subtle colors. I would like to see the spiral of the tail sharp as well, but that's a minor detail.

I really admire attempts to bring "studio" lighting into the field like this. It looks marvelous against the dark background. Well done, Emil.

I really like this image. the color, and the background work well in the image. A large image would have been nice for evaluation.

Emil:
What an excellent capture! Like the texture of the skin and the lighting is fabulous. Also like the spiral curled up tail but wished it was a little sharper.
