I was called by Mark Wexler, the editorial director at National Wildlife yesterday. This image of Polistes Metricus at one of our birdbaths will be in the June/July issue of their magazine. They're doing an article on backyard wildlife..
F/13, 1/200th, ISO 640, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm with ringflash & monopod for support. About 80% of FF.
Shot at birdbath's edge in the shade of a pecan tree around 1:00pm on a hot July day..

Congrats on having this image published!! :toast:

And an interesting shot indeed. Nice colors and details. I can see how this would help tell a story about backyard wildlife. Well done.

Hey, what are doing in this gallery? Get back to Avian!

I like this image a lot and can see why they chose it (congrats!). The flash shows a bit, but its not over the top by any means. I really like the curve of the birdbath rim and of course the behavior is fantastic. Well done. :toast:
