Three

This is a three image pano stitch. Windy conditions, overcast light and slow shutter speed give the water an icy, surreal look.

Thanks for the feedback on my previous posts. It's always helpful and appreciated.

Love the minimal context feel to this; placing of the trees is spot on ideal.

The flat lighting really makes this image. It's beautiful. I sure wish those trees could tell their life histories.

This is gorgeous David. Like you mentioned, the water adds such a neat flavor to the image. These look like remnants of a cut that continued to live; is that right? If so, that makes it even more special.

Your ability to captures so many different moods in this environment is a testament to your connection to it, David. Totally different light than many of your other image, but outstanding once again.

Lots of ghostly images in the landscape forum lately... this has the same feel to me. I love the composition and the icy look to the water. Reminds me of three wise old men, just hanging out.

Bill,,,,,,,these old trees out in the lake are broken or hollow from the elements so they had no commercial value to loggers. That is what saved them from the axe & saw. I often wonder what these places must have looked like a couple hundred years ago.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. This image is different from most of my work and its helpful to know if it connects with anyone else.

That is an outstanding image! Wonderful graphic qualities and mood. Great character in the trees as if they want to tell a story. I'd like to hear what they have to say.

Surreal and stunning, wonderful contrast with the darker trees, the pano really works excellent for this scene, well seen and well done, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

This has quiet a different mood and look than your other images of these beautiful trees David. This has more of an ethereal, wintery look but it is still gorgeous and very appealing.

This is very nice David. I like the pano format and the details in the trees look great. I'm amazed that these trees can live in the water like this. What kind of trees are they?

Scott,,,,these are bald cypress. They will grow in water but need dry land to germinate and grow to a certain size before they are able to survive constant immersion. These trees out in the lake will never be replaced unless something drastic happens to the water level.

Thanks to everyone for the feed back on this image.

Incredible, David! Those are some fascinating trees, and I like seeing them all in a line against such a clean backdrop to really appreciate their forms. I bet this would be a great place to come back to under a variety of different conditions.
