This GBH popped out of the marsh 30 feet from me, and was as surprised to see me as I was to see him! I usually get only the butt end of these guys flying away, so this was a change.

Really nice flight shot...great job getting him so quickly. Everything has nice detail seen well in your larger version. Nice natural colors. Excellent! Sharon

Sandy,

A lovely photo with razor sharp focus from wing to wing. The only nit is the neck area whites appear a bit hot to me.

Nice job, Sandy. I like the soft light. Very sharp. Exposures handled well. Lots of detail.

Very pretty as posted, Sandy. However, you might be able to drag out a little more detail, especially in the neck area, by adjusting contrast and brightness. :toast:

Very nice capture. Kind of makes all the butt end shots (everyone has them) seem irrelevant doesn't it?

Beautiful light and resulting colors. I usually just get a blur. This is very sharp. Nicely done

Sandy,
Looks like a much better perpective than you usually get (butt end). Nice wing position and lighting. You were quick on your toes Sandy to catch this one. Nice details. I like the natural colors as too many of these birds are posted with far too much saturation. Well rendered Sandy. I assume you were hand holding as usual? You have that 500 down pat.

Yes, hand-holding as usual. I never even think to mention that any longer, sorry.
I just don't like tripods, unless absolutely necessary .

Nice flight shot Sandy, especially for an unexpected shot. Looks tack sharp. I agree the whites around the face look a tad hot, and I think I would darken the entire photo just a bit.

Beautiful flight shot. I think I agree about darkening the image just a bit.
