Definitely color--it would be a shame to waste all that nice warm color! I like this much more than your last post--really captures the mood of Yellowstone in Winter. :toast:
Oh--flare spot just left of center doesnt really bug me, but i think it would be better to zap some of the red there so its almost invisible (it almost is anyways...)

Lovely shot, great warm colors and the sun flares add some wonderful mood. I definitely prefer the color version.

I really like the sweet light. I also really like the mood this image invokes. Definitely the color version.

Call me the dissenter, ;), but while I love the warm golden glow of the color, when I scrolled down to the B&W I let out a mental (not audible) "wow". Good job either way!

I'm not voting. They are both excellent, the warmth of the color version and the serenity of the b&w evoke emotionaly responces equally. Very nicely done

Both versions are excellent. I think I favor the color, but you can't go wrong with either.

Both are great, but I think I'm partial to the color. I like the animal tracks and stuff in the foreground. I assume that is a Bison track there?

I, too, much prefer the color. Black and white can be really effective, but I don't get that low-light feeling in your black-and-white version. This is a case where the color is quite monochromatic and very effective. Lovely lines!

Color version for me, Doug. I love the feel of that warm glow. The b/w is very nice however.
I enjoy looking at this.

Lovely light Doug, and well composed. You do seem to be suffering from a loss in contrast, likely due to light from the bright sun bouncing around in your lens. A way to get around that would be to take exposures where the direct light from the sun is blocked (with your hand if you like) and then an exposure for the sky and sun itself, perhaps at f22 to minimize the amount of incoming bright light and any loss of contrast in the sky, although that would be less obvious than the foreground anyways. You can then blend the two. It works pretty well for me.

Nice work!

Definitely the color version for me Doug. I can't resist that warm light. Great work with the excellent control over the wild light!

I like the color version better myself, but find the sunstar a bit too prominent, almost dominating the scene rather than complementing it. I sort of suspect that you may have the same thought?

I prefer the color version, the warm colors are great. My only nit is the sun being unusually large, but still a wonderful image.

This image has an ebb and flow...quite powerful. The warm color helps alleviate the stark and somehow alien nature. Love this one!
