Sand Harbor Morning

This is a shot I found while hoping around from boulder to bolder before sunrise near Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe. The morning was crisp, the air was cool, and the water was so calm. I was struck by the clarity of the lake.

Very pretty Jared. I think the composition is very nicely balanced and I love the way the most significant rose color of the sky is centered. The reflection is also killer.

Man...those colors are great...and I ALMOST love this one. The top left corner just feels too empty. Not sure you can do much about that but the comp of the rocks leading through the fg is great. Nice work

I love your composition here. It really captures the clarity of the water. The pastel sky and it's reflection just adds to serenity.

A place I've been meaning to visit for some time . . . and a wonderful depiction of it. No nits from me. What time of year was this taken?

Beautiful colors in the water. I like the comp too! My critique would be that the sky is too dark compared to the reflection. I would consider darkening the reflection slightly and bringing up the sky slightly. That would look more natural and have a more consistent 3D flow.

I love the spacing of the rocks and the turquoise color of the lake. One of the better images I've seen from here. I totally agree with Aaron's assessment of the reflection + sky. The rocks totally look like mushrooms. Very kewl shot Jared.

The rocks and turquoise water are both really nice. Amazingly calm and clear water!

I never seem to get tired of seeing images of Sand Harbor. The smoth rocks and still waters is amazing. The clarity is pretty amazing. The left land form may be intruding a little on the left, in contrast with the smooth boulders. A crop or maybe a steop to the left might have solved this. Very minor, probably just me. Nice job.

Nice foreground colors and interesting foreground rocks makes this an eye catching image. I would love to go to this location when the skies are a bit more interesting.

This image instantly caught my eye. The wonderful angle and pattern of the rocks is very compelling, and the surreal nature of the scene is spectacular. I tend to agree with the comment about cloning (not cropping) out that snippet of land on the left, but I like the negative space in the upper left. And while yes, what is in the water is generally darker than the sky, this one works for me because of the proportions of your composition. If the sky had been lighter, it would have drawn my eye up there instead of toward the main element of your photograph - the water and rocks. Nicely done, Jared!
