River Otter

I observed and photographed this old male river otter in North Vancouver. He was still incredible adept at fishing and caught no less than 4 crabs and 5 small fish in a half an hour. He was a joy to observe.

Thanks for viewing and your comments.

What a nice portrait of this otter. You really got close, which is very cool.

Amazing that an otter allows you to observe him so wel and even pose for you Darren  . This is a solid photo and Iike the almost arrogant head-up pose of this guy. My only suggestion is that if it were possible at all to obtain a slightly lower shooting angle, but not so low that the FG rocks start overlapping the subject. Further I would tone down the sharpening on the water and the BG rocks a bit.

Quite a regal looking pose from this Otter, Darren. I like how we can see the light reflections on the Otter and I can even see a bright eye evident. I find it hard to judge detail from this image. I do like the comp too. :toast:
