Contrasting

This is a tree in Huntley Meadows Park in Virginia that some crows had picked out. It's one of a pair of gnarly trees standing away from the main woods. The image was pretty monochrome to begin with - flat gray sky, monochrome tree, monochrome birds, so my thought at the time was B&W. But looking at it, I thought it would be better altered a bit more.

This is actually still a color shot - just some tinges though. I pushed the contrast and clarity way up in ACR, and added some sharpening and vignette.

Thanks for looking!

I like your choice of going BW with this. I am a big fan of black and white photography. Wonderful the way the birds are perched. :toast:

Cool! Good idea, nicely executed. Since the crows are the main attraction for me, id be inclined to go with a slightly tighter crop, closer to square. :wavey:

Very much like the way you've combined texture in the trees with the silhouetted birds, David. The branches sharply cut off against the frame helps the feel of the image too, I think.
