Cackling Goose photographed during spring migration at Creamers Field in Fairbanks,AK. The background isn't grey sky. It is actually a hillside of leafless birch and aspen trees. Any feedback on technical, comp, etc. will be appreciated.

Hi Dan, the detail looks pretty good for a flight shot. I think it would of been nice to have the head stand out more and the other wing covers the most of the body so it makes it harder to appreciate the goose. I enjoyed going through you website, excellent Alaska photos.

Unusual and lovely pose in this bif shot, Dan. The birds stands out well from the bg. However, I do agree with Jim that the head especially does not stand out well. You could try playing with selective exposure in more post-processing to see if you could improve the situation. :toast:

Thanks for the comments. I know this image doesn't fit a lot of the rules for bird photography. Plus it's only a goose. I'm emotionally attached because it was one of my first reasonably successful BIF images. I will try reworking the lighting to accentuate the head when I get a few minutes.
