Disgusted

I posted an image of a Ruddy Turnstone a few weeks ago and i returned to the spot yesterday to try to get some shots of the birds in their breeding finery before they headed north. They looked superb and i was slowly edging my way through the piles of seaweed towards them when some hoons drove down onto the beach and started doing donuts in the sand. This of course scattered everything on the beach amid much tooting while the occupants of the car waved at me and cheered. They then sped out onto the wet sand exposed by the low tide before disappearing. I hope their car rusts out.
Having got that off my chest; here's a Pied Oystercatcher that I got before the car arrived.

Bummer about the hoons. You did manage to get a beautiful image here with a nice low angle and lovely bg. I think it needs a bit of ccw rotation. :toast:

"I think it needs a bit of ccw rotation."

It's walking down a gentle slope towards the breaking waves

cheers

Excellent image of this oc. Exposure is perfect and detail is very nice. Even though it's on a slope, my eye wants it straight  But, I see the little grass and the leg reflections are ok. Nicely done! Sharon
Oh, and maybe a great white will come ashore and eat them!

can't say I'm familiar with the term, 'hoons,' Rob, but I am definitely familiar with the type. glad to see you got some good shots in before they got there.... this is really nice--love the pose and setting. comp is perfect too.

Hope this nice image is some consolation ! There are stupid, irresponsible people everywhere, sadly.
Nice pose here, good sats, perfect BG and even a bit of reflection.
I agree with the CCW rotation -

Nice!

Beautiful image, Rob. I love the low angle and the effect it has on the wet sand.

Sorry you didn't get your Turnstone. Unfortunately, there seem to be idiots everywhere. :toast:

The world is full of jerks, Rob. Ignore them. Lovely shot of the Oystercatcher. The low angle makes the shot for me.

Nice image Rob, nice background, and I like the caught in stride, foot up pose you captured.

Excellent - pose, image clarity, exposure control, setting - all first rate. A tad ccw rotation going the intergrade lines at top background.

The good light gave you some outstanding colors on this guy. Love how the sand in the foreground blends softly into the water behind and that shimmering reflection. Too bad some people have to spoil a wonderful day for you and for the birds.

Top notch image of the OC, Rob. You have captured a perfect pose. I like the low view point and the beautiful background - particularly how it merges with the wet sand. The sand in the beak is a bonus. Top techs. :toast:

Too bad about the dumb disturbances. Always amazing what some people's idea of fun is.

Nice one Rob. I can sympathize, I generally get joggers who feel they need to run either over the birds or between me and what I have been trying to approach, not to mention the parents who seem to think it is cute to have their kids chase the birds. The BG is great. He feels like he is walking down hill a bit to me.

A really nice exposure Rob. Love the look at that eye. The BG and sand really add to this shot IMO. Awesome sharpness and detail as usual. Too bad your efforts got interrupted. I hate people like that.

Yep, we got 'hoons' here also, however this is a excellent shot. The detail and IQ is top notch, I like the color contrast of this bird, the larger image looks great, way to go.
