This was my first digital photograph with my (then) brand new Nikon D100. It was taken pre dawn at French Creek State Park PA. All comments greatly appreciated.

Real pretty, VInce, thanks for kicking off this weeks theme! I like the reflections in the ice here--the shoreline helps indicate that its ice rather than water, but i think id prefer a tighter crop/view here of the trees and reflection--maybe a 50/50 split. :wavey:

I really like the colors of the sunrise in the BG, but also agree with Stan about the tighter crop. I would crop about 1/3 off the bottom.

Vince,
I like the colors of the sky and the blue of the ice. I agree with others about cropping the bottom. :toast:

Beautiful sky and lovely silhouette. Like the soft glow of the ice.

Looks like a consensus so far on the crop. I like a crop from the bottom to make a square, but then you lose the sense of ice. tough to say which is more important. That's certainly up to you. Good mood, clarity and a sense of time and place.

Vince, I like the colors and tonal rang in your image, especially the warm tones together with the ice. I also think of cropping, as the foreground is a bit distracting for me. Anyway, a pleasant shot!

Excellent, especially as a first shot from the new camera!
Love the colors, and great silhouette for the WC theme this week.
I might consider getting rid of the land at the bottom and just have the great, calm water.

Thank you all for your kind comments and suggestion to crop. I thought the shoreline was important to show the water is ice, but here is the cropped image. I like it! I think it's still obvious that the water is ice without the shoreline. Thanks again.

Wow! The cropped version is wonderful - especially with those soft shadows pushing downwards "into" the ice. I love the bit of color in the sky. Really well done!
