Eve,

With the exception of the slight crop of the petal, I like this composition and that's starting to grow on me actually since it's balanced by the crop of the bud on the right and the main leaf at the bottom.

The treatment reminds me some of Mr. Contrast which I've used a lot.

The image is a little odd for this gallery in that we normally try not to lose texture in the subject through saturation or processing and the petals and anthers look like pure color in places here.

Also, the high contrast treatment tends to look like noise and most folks in the gallery try to avoid noise showing in the image.

So, this doesn't look like an image we normally see in Flora and that makes it hard for me to critique. This is kind of an anti-image for Flora.

That said, I find the image interesting. i think I would crop down to pano from the top though and clip a little of the top petal just to keep things symmetrically treated in the frame.

Eve,

Based on my initial reaction to not knowing how to critique the image and to the lack of response you've received to it, I think the image is probably a better fit in the Photo Art gallery. Consequently, I moved it over here.

Eve: This is an interesting image and processing. I agree with Pat that this is more appropriate for Photo Art. Certainly the line between Flora and Photo Art is not a clear one but this much digital manipulation seems to fit the Photo Art posting criteria
Photo Art Gallery - Digitally manipulated or multiple exposure images that are intended as obvious artistic renditions of nature.

I would also like to encourage you to offer comments on others' postings. NPN works best when we offer mutual encouragement and critique. You have some interesting work and will get more responses yourself if you will take the time to offer your own insights on other posts. >=))>

Thanks Bill and Pat for your comments. I do agree that this image belongs in Photo Art. Eve I do like the comp and the overall look. I want to jump in with Bill concerning comments and say that it is important that we not only post images but that we comment on other images as well this way we can all benefit from each other.
