Sparrowhawk

After a fairly fruitless afternoon at Elmley I had almost driven out when this female sparrowhawk flew across the road in front of me and landed in the middle of a field of grass. Not a normal place for a sparrowhawk to be I know, but I wasn't complaining! The light was beginning to drop, so I had to up to 800iso, which is more apparent on the larger version, especially as what I am posting is a crop of about 50%.

I can't recall having seen a pic of a sparrowhawk perched on grass before, (unless it has been with prey), so kudos for taking the opportunity. Stunning eye and the quality is quite acceptable considering the iso/crop/extender etc.

Nice little sprawk David, and the clump of grass adds nicely to what would have been a plain backdrop.
