Wood Duck
by Lucy VanSwearingen
Last weekend, we went to the zoo. As I walked across the bridge, I saw this wood duck from the top. I got a perfectly symmetrical top view. It is gorgeous, but I thought the beautiful colors "deserved" a more artistic presentation.
I also matted this to bring out the colors, instead of submitting it on it's clay colored background.

A number of members have told me that I'm stretching the boundaries
...I hope, in a good way..... I like to surprise everybody with my own artistic "twist".
And though the result may or may not be good.....know that I'm having great fun with both the art and WC galleries!!!
Any creative ideas or critiques are welcomed
I've got a BIG learning curve to reach the high standard set by so many great photographers! So, please give me as many pointers as you can!
I meant stretching the boundaries in a good way, and I appreciate having the photo Art gallery to let our creativity run amok. well not amok, but a little woolly and wild. It's a very creative image.

Michele...I don't really know an exact formula, because I was tinkering late at night. But I can come close... I don't know which order I did these.....
I played with only the PSE distortion tools. I did not use twirl, because it made him get skinny like a corkscrew.
I used the spherical tool three ways....normally, vertically and horiz.
Somewhere in the middle...maybe a couple of times, I used the polar co-ordinates distortion...from rectangular to polar only.
The polar co. made the the little whirlpool in the middle...I smudged ,cloned out, or liquified the the vertical line. Don't remember.
The polar co. distortion also gave it that subtle "spray" pattern in each of the corners. The last step was my "artistic" finger painting with the liquid distortion tool.
From there, you're on you're own. Sorry, I could not give you the order of my machinations. Like I said, it was late, I was tired, and I had fun!
Thanks again everybody for the encouragement to keep "goofing off"
