WC475 Llandullas Heron

This is a shot from a few years ago when I was down at Llandullas in North Wales. I used a qick shutter speed to freeze the heron and than did a long exposure and blended the two later on the computer.

Nikon D50, Nikon 18-70mm.

Thanks for looking. Gary.

Lovely simplicity to this composition. The soft glow and the sharp silhouettes are beautiful. Your technique was well thought-out.

Very nice. This could look very cool as a pano, too, cropping just above the horizon before the clouds on the right take any shape.

A very creative image, Gary, the monochromatic character works well together with the composition.

A great composite. The sharp bird stands in great contrast to all the motion blur.

Thanks for explaining your process. My immediate reaction was, "WOW, it's amazing how long that heron stood still !"

This is super Gary - well thought out! I understand why someone suggested a pano but, for me, if you lose the bright sky above, then the image loses much of its life - seems to work best as is, and very well too!

This does a terrific job of capturing the peace and serenity of a quiet sunrise (or sunset) at the shore.

Excellent shot, Gary! The photo would be beautiful without the bird - but his perfect silhouette adds something unexpected. Your blend is perfect - and you show your skill at photography by thinking through the process and executing the idea so well. The long shutter speed is a perfect choice. I love the depth and the perspective. Just beautiful.

Really nice comp and a very serene image. The processing was well thought out and executed. The monochromatic nature of the image pulls it together nicely.
