Here's one from last October . . . the beginning of fall color in Yosemite NP along the trail to the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias. I wasn't satisfied with my original post-processing efforts and recently went back to give it another try. This is the result. I greatly appreciate all comments and critiques.

Canon 5DII, 70-200L at 200mm for 1/4 second, f/16 (ISO 200); Singh-Ray LB Warming Polarizer.

I love how the leaves frame the image, very nicely composed. The processing looks pretty good to me. I would have loved to see this with the fall colors a little further along.. hint hint

Floris, I certainly would have liked that as well! Unfortunately, the stars did not align for a return trip later in the fall . . . in about seven months I can make up for it though.

Nicely composed, I like how the trunk separated red & green here.

It's always nice to see a great concept come together with the right execution. I could see going a shade brighter with the lighter shadow tones in the tree trunks.

This is beautiful Phil. I love how the leaves frame the scene. I also like the dark trunks and the contrast against the colorful leaves. Another wonderful contrast is that of the turning color vs. the green.

This is really nice, Phil. I like the combination of the green leaves and the ones that have started to turn. It shows the transition from summer to fall. Very nice comp too. Well done!

Pretty sweet! Would like to see both framing trees changing color thought to better contrast the green on the bark. Nice work :)

Very nice, I like how the leaves frame the image. The saturation is spot on, too.

EDIT: I just took another look at this one and it looks even better the second time. It's got a really strong 3D feel. The more I look at this, the more I like it.

Wonderful composition and textures. My only nit seems to be a matter of personal taste, and I know I'm in the minority, but on my monitor the saturation seems just a bit heavy. Still a gorgeous scene.

Outstanding color and light and the dark trunk contrast beautifully with the vibrant colors.

Just gorgeous...all the different colors are spectacular and create such a natural frame for this tree. Excellent job.

What an elegant and beautiful comp! I love this combination. I also like how the colors on the left contrast with the not yet turned colors on the right. My initial reaction was that it was a little over saturated, mainly the greens. But I'm not sure now. It just looks lush, like I know these environments can. Beautiful!

This is a really nice comp, Phil, and I actually like these colors. The saturation seems maybe a bit strong, but I know that's a personal choice and you just need to go with what works for you.

Thanks for all of the comments! I'll likely revisit the saturation and try to pull back the reds and greens a bit. I was on the fence about the saturation myself prior to posting and appreciate the suggestions.

This is a stunning shot, Phil. I like everything about it, except that I am not standing there and soaking in this peaceful scene. A massive print of this on a wall would be awesome.

Wonderful colors and the moss on the sequoias is great. Greens feel a bit oversaturated. Nicely composed!
