One Red Leaf

Here's another from my archive that received the re-scan/re-work treatment using TK's masks. I found this carpet of aspen leaves on Bishop Creek in the Sierra a few years ago. I liked the single red leaf atop the carpet of yellow.

This has a softness that I really like Preston, as well as the wall to wall sharpness. Very nice work.
TK's masks are on my list but I have almost too many pots on the fire now as it is.

There's a milky soft yellow to this that's just wonderful! Perhaps a slight slight yellow cast, but it doesn't really bother me. I suppose it's what I imagine it should look like with all the yellow filtered light from the trees above, assuming they still have some leaves on.

I love leafscapes! The way these are arranged (not by you) is lovely, as is the color. The one red leaf does provide a nice focal point.

Preston, your processing shows the one red leaf to its fullest advantage! I like the way it is embedded, and all the beautiful shades.

Stunning, Preston, simply stunning. An incredible array of yellow and green tones that is a feast for the eyes. And then that solitary red leaf ... like a rare jewel. Beautiful.

Preston,

It seems simplicity is popular, or is that poplar  . Actually you got the whole color range here, this must have been after one of those down slope winds. Everything from green through yellow orangish yellow orange but there is one singular red leaf and it's makes the image. Very well composed.

A beautiful image, Preston. I like the soft light and the softness of the colour. The mix of yellow and green is very nice, and the inclusion of the red leaf breaks it up nicely and creates a very nice focal point. Just a wonderful image to look at.

Yep, this is a fine image! I am still seeing a bit of a color cast, but must be my old eyes. No one else seems to notice. Beautiful work, Mr. Birdwell.

In addition to the red leaf, I like all the variation in the yellow theme.

Is there a quality of light to justify the color cast just mentioned? It seems reasonable.

I really like the overall "glow". It seems as if it's lit from within. The red leaf and it's companion with the dark spots do a great job of adding a point of interest.

Beautiful intimate view Preston. Besides the little red lead I like his "just turning big brother" and the lead with the darker areas on the right of it. I like the "Mellow Yellow" and subtle greens surrounding the trio. Very pleasing color and composition that speaks volumes of the visual delights of autumn..

Gosh this is pretty, Preston. It does look very carpet-like. Are these leaves wet? The intensity of the color and the sense of translucency makes me think so.

A very delicate scene and really shows a senstive eye. The soft glow emanating from the carpet of leaves is indeed quite striking. I love this one, Preston.

Preston,

I finally got a chance to look at this on my home computer and monitor. What a lovely and intimate autumn "mini" landscape image. Flora, sure... but a mini landscape or leafscape to be sure. I would have to agree though with both Floris and Harley that I do think there is a lean towards a green/yellow cast. Of course with the subject matter at hand, it's probably not an issue, and Floris also has a good point that an overhead canopy of light filtered through yellow may have some influence here. Regardless, a well seen and captured image.

Gorgeous image, Preston. I love the variations of yellows and greens. It's as if light is dancing from leaf to leaf. And the red leaf is a great anchor.
