Still waiting for the swamps in Southern Illinois to green up a bit more. This image was taken in late April, 2009. C&C appreciated. Large image posted.

Great scene Matthew. I really like the reflections with the green on the surface of the water. The brush in the background is a bit distracting. Might look different with a wider aperture to blur the background a little.

This taken in S. Illinois? Looks like something in the south.

The reflections are great. The colors and comp work very well.

The greens are wonderful in this shot. I still loking at feet of snow in NH, so this is a welcomed site (I can't believe I'm say this!) While the composition looks very good as is, maybe consider cropping the top of the image just below the branch across the main stump. While the format will change considerably, I think it simplifies the feel of the shot and eliminates the 1/2 tree out of water, 1/2 tree reflection. Maybe a little more dynamic this way? The left reflections will be retained, which is another great piece of the image. Nicely found and captured.

The greens looks great here, Matthew. A pretty cool shot for sure. I really like the reflections and especially like the lower 2/3 of this image, so nice as it is here, I like Harry's crop suggestion a lot. Nice work Matthew!

This is Southern Illinois? Wow! The greens here are great and they create a glowing surround for the main cypress trunk and its reflection. For me, the background creates a sense of place, so I wouldn't crop it.

The emerald green reflection is beautiful, Matthew. Hope spring isn't too far off for you.

The perfect reflection and emerald greens are just incredible. If you darken the bright parts, particularly in the top of the image, it may simplify things a bit.

Thank you all for your comments and helpful suggestions. Mark, this is most definitely southern Illinois. The area is part of the Cache River wetlands, which form the northernmost Cypress and Tupelo swamps in the country.
