Great-winged Petrel

Horrible overcast conditions, sooty grey bird - I managed to eke out a few details but it's still a study in monotone
We had an exceptional pelagic on the weekend. Up until Sunday there had been about 10 Great Shearwater records ever in Australian waters. We got records 11 to about 61 on Sunday. I'll post one later.

ISO 800 f7.1 1/1250 exp comp +1

cheers
Rob

You've done very well under those conditions Rob - even light in the eye. I especially like the light on the dorsal surface and your framing works well for me. I look forward to your shearwater posts!

Monotone though it is, this bird looks like it's flying out of the screen at me, Rob. Great pose, bird looks interested in us too. :toast:

I'm impressed and would be very happy with this image and these results. I like the flight position and I always like monotone images.

Flat lighting but you handled it very well. I like how the nose tube shows so clearly. :toast:

I think it is quite good, Rob. Sufficient detail, and a nice partial bank to show off the back of the wings. And congratulations on the Great Shearwaters.

You pulled this off nicely, Rob. Excellent detail in the Petrel and enough contrast with the bg to work.
