Pallas cat (C)

These small Asian mountain cats put on quite a show for being mean, but it is mostly show. Still my favorite small wild cat. He would look out of the log for only a few seconds then pull back into it. Taken at the Miller Park Zoo.

I have never heard of this cat and had to check the web to find out more, very interesting. I like the lime colored eyes, the log and the attitude look, way to go.

The pose and the stare, with those green eyes, are very nice. Detail looks good in the larger post. I think I might try desaturating the green leaves on the left edge to lessen the tendency of the eye to go to that strong color in an otherwise muted palette.

Cool image John  . The pose and look on the cat's face are precious. Although the log is clearly cut by man, it does provide a wonderful framing here and I actually wish the bottom edge of the frame did not cross it (i.,e. a bit more room at the bottom would have been an improvement). Rick has a good suggestion to desat the greens a bit.

I think I've only ever seen a couple of other shots of Pallas cats before, and one of those was in a Nat Geo showing the cat almost perfectly concealed among gray-coloured rocks by way of it's complimentary coloured fur even though most of the cat was practically in full view.

Their long hair give them an almost Persian cat look, but something in their eyes tells a different story ;^)

Beautiful capture, wonderfully sharp, and perfect depth of field. Very nice John and thanks for sharing with us :^)

Great look from this cool little cat. I like the framing provided by the log.
