Stumped by the Kalahari

Here is another sunrise photo from the Kalahari desert. The Kalahari is a transitional desert, and is part bush, part desert. This particular location had a lot of grass and the typical "camelthorn" acacia trees.

This was taken when I had only been taking photography seriously for a few months, and is also one of my first manual exposure blends that I was happy with. In hindsight I should have tried to not have the stump touching the LHS edge of the frame.

All your honest feedback is highly appreciated.

Techs:
Canon 1000D with 18-55mm IS
f22 @ ISO-100
3 images blended using luminosity masks

The light is beautiful. I like the heavy texture of the clouds above the softness of the grasses. The stump is a perfect for catching the eye and leading it into the landscape. You are probably right about the branch touching the lhs as it tends to bring the viewer out of the picture before they get to savor the sunflare and clouds. Still, it is a very satisfying image. I like it alot

I like your comp Morkel but agree with you on the branch touching the left edge but not a big deal. A beautiful and tranquil scene.

Wonderful scene, Morkel. This is one of those that is just very nice to enjoy. I like the colors and light you captured. I agree with your thoughts (and the others) about the branch going out of the frame, but not really a deal breaker for me either. Pretty shot.

Morkel:
Love the wonderful light here and the warm color in the grass. Agree with you and others that the branch tends to lead the viewer out of the frame.

The light certainly is well presented here. The scene doesn't wow me, but the control of the light provides a great sense of place.
