At The End

Took a little trip this morning down to a local park that is full of wildflowers this time of year. There was still just a little dew on the plants. I was ignoring the flowers and looking for dew drops when I found this one. Unfortunately I could not get close enough without disturbing the plant and probably losing the water drop. I cropped instead. Couldn't hang this on the wall, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Getting big images of tiny drops is a real challenge because drops are usually less than 5 mm diameter. That means that you need special optics to allow you to make larger than life size images. You've done very well here, even if it is a big crop. I like the curve in the leaf and the hairs on the leaf. Your drop is special because it has a couple of flat edges and you've got a great image within it.

I agree, Richard, that this picture is pretty cool! Even though it is a simple picture it has lots of interest with the drop (and it's unusual shape), the reflection in the drop, the curvy leaf, the hairs on the leaf, the BG, and the overall comp. Love it!

I want to thank both Mark and Carolyn for taking the time to write some really great critiques. Comments like these are what makes NPN great.

And Richard - I think this is a lovely shot. The unusual shape of the water dropplet makes it partiularly appealing, and I love the interesting details within the tiny drop. The rich, green background is wonderful - the image feels very fresh. Excellent work!
