I used a Canon 30D for this shot of a frog in a planter in our sunroom. Any useful comments welcome. Thank you.

Neat photo. I like the BG colors. Looks like he's pausing to gather his thoughts before heading out into the great big world on an epic adventure.

Wow, love the purple and magenta tones with the green! I would bump that bit of sunshine on his brow down just a little bit (more), as well as the bottom right sun ray (actually, I'd clone it out)...and lighten up/saturate his back just a little bit - that texture on his back is so interesting!

Welcome to NPN! :wavey:

Love the mix of vibrant colors, the frog seems to be contemplating the beauty of his pond as well! Your options for alternate vantage points were likely limited but if you could have put that central vertical reed a bit more off center it might have made for a bit stronger composition I think. Agree about toning down a couple of bright spots a little. A peaceful and artistic photo.

Hi Lucy and a warm welcome to NPN :wavey: This is an interesting photo and I love the body pose, the coloration and good use of selective focus. A few thing could have made this a stronger image though IMO. Firstly the subject is a bit too centered; generally (not always!) one can achieve a stronger composition by placing your subject(s) off-center (I assume you have heard of the rule of thirds). What is generally (again not always!) also very crucial in wildlife photography is eye-contact or at least the eye being visible and in focus. IMO this image would benefit if the eye were better visible. Lastly I would try to tone down the brightest areas. If you have shot this in RAW it will be easier to achieve that.
By the way, it will help others to give you more constructive feedback if you would include some more techs like lens used, aperture, shutterspeed and ISO value used.

I like the subject and the interesting, rich colors. I wish to be seeing the face and eyes, however! Hopefully this is one of a series.

Welcome to NPN, Lucy. The title fits the image as I can imagine it daydreaming, wondering what's on the other side of the windows. Like the vegetation, and agree that toning down some of the highlights would help smoothen out the image.

Great comments, esp about toning down the bright spots. I thought since the frog wasn't square in the center, i.e. on the lower portion of the photo, it might almost jibe with the rule of thirds. Thanks all.
To the moderators by the way. Thanks for the welcome. I did click on I'd like to receive e-mail,s but didn't seem to get them. Any option I missed?
