Free Fall

Taken this past fall, I was able to retrieve the only Tiff file from this days shoot. I erased a whole bunch by mistake that had been downloaded into another file that I erased, along with the original RAWs. Lesson learned the hard way! For this image, I inched my way to the edge of Rippley Falls in NH's White Mountains. I estimated & prefocussed, then pushed the camera/tripod toward the edge of the falls to give the view down the falls. I composed useing Live View at arm's reach. After a couple of tries and shutter speeds, I settled for this composition.

5D MarkII, 17-40L, polarizing filter.

I really like the perspective in this photo, Harry. The title is also very appropriate because that is exactly how I feel as I view this. I also like all of the color--from the fall foliage to the rocks.

The one nit that I have is the sliver of sky above the background peak. My eye tends to wander away to that area. If this photo were mine, I would consider a slight crop from the top just below the skyline. That would help redirect my attention back to the waterfall as the main subject.

A precarious, but lovely spot to be standing! I was pretty sure by the scene that this was east coast. Wonderful perspective, and array of colors.

This is a really nice scene. Between the foreground water and the colors in the trees, my eyes stay fully engaged.

Neat perspective Harry, looks like a great spot to photograph. The water feels a bit underexposed, particularly at the top of the falls, I might lighten it just a bit to add a little more contrast to the scene.

There is a lot going on here, but at the same time a lot to like. Beautiful.

Thanks- I think the water could use some added contrast, and I my try darkening the sky a bit and see how it looks before nuking it.

Great perspective here Harry. You've done an excellent job making a compelling image from the top of the waterfall. Well done. Sorry to hear about the data loss.

The colors of the greens and processing is amazing Harry. I like the comp too; however, the angle of the falls on the right side is a bit dizzying. Also, I think I'd prefer it slightly more without the inclusion of the sky. Personal preference though - very impressive work.

Interesting perspective, which goes well with both color layer placements and the water. I can see your arrangements working well. Not quite sure about the sky, but without it the image loses some character too...

Like a roller coaster about to go over the edge,,,,,,very cool. The color and detail in the surrounding country side is beautiful.

Wonderful perspective Harry. Can't decide if the sky should be included but whatever is your preference.
I love when shots like these work out.
Great work
