Winter's Gifts

Well, I have my laptop back!!! I caught a virus and was without for a while. My old machine is so slowww, I just couldn't deal with it.

Winter came hard, and went fast, but it left some great conditions in Yosemite, and the Sierras. This is very similar to a previous post. The differences are, that this is a conversion, duh, and it is also a stitch of 3 vertical shots. Some folks wished for more detail in the last version, so hopefully this fulfills the request.

D200,
18-70mm,
1/10sec, F/11,

Thanks,
Chris

Maybe it's just that these trees are so familiar, but this image still say Yosemite without waterfalls or rock. I guess maybe these tress are sort of an icon, if that's possible. Very nice image.

Such an inviting little winter scene but I'm sure glad it's over in certain places.

Thanks, Tony!

Yes these trees are part of a stand of black oaks at the west end of El Capitan Meadow, that are definately icons. I have not seen this particular section/viewpoint that I can remember though. I think any image that can be recognized as an image from Yosemite has at least some of that icon label attatched to it, through association if nothing else!

A fine composition, Chris, delightful details and a really wintry atmosphere - fortunately the warming sun comforts me while looking at this image!

Another beauty Chris. I can't enjoy the detail on this crappy work monitor, but will enjoy it when I get home tonight. I agree with Tony, these trees have become sort of an icon, and that's great!

Well done, Chris! You've captured the detail, and I like that you've composed the
main tree off center.

Chris: This is great. I love the arching branch and how it frames the lower central trees. I wonder if there might even be a slightly tighter comp that will really accentuate the framing aspect.
