Excellent detail in this one Wayne. You've captured some life in that dark eye and I can see moss/algae on the skin.

Now them there's a set of jaws! Not like my wimpy little Monitor - LOL ;^p
Seeing the Gator raised up like this with mouth agape really accentuates the power it must have in it's bite by way of those enormous jaw muscles.
As seriously awesome as the Gator appears here, I have to admit every time I see one of these images of yours that include the couldn't-give-damn-about-his-presence demeanour of the Egrets (and I believe that's some kind of Ibis in this one as well), it has me chucking in the same way Jack Nicholson did in the movie "The Shining"; I knew the central theme was supposed to be on bone-chilling fear and suspense, but Jack's crazed portrayal helped me to laugh my way through the experience, as do these birds help warm up the otherwise all too sinister and intimidating impression I'd be getting of the Gator on it's own ;^)
OK, I'm ready for the next one Wayne :^)

Hi Wayne,
Pretty darned good timing on this one Wayne! I quite like the DOF on this one - makes the big guy pop nicely and, based on their brightness, the birds still stand out nicely. I suppose in a perfect world having the White Ibis shifted slightly to the right would have made the "I'm about to eat you" interpretation even more believable, but that's kinda splitting hairs!
Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Those birds are dare devils for sure! Quite a cool scene Wayne and I like your chosen DOF. I do wish there was some separation between the bird's tail and the gator's snout though.

Fine shot. Love the contrast between the alligator's open mouth and readiness with the apparent indifference (and closed bills) of the birds. Makes one wonder what's next?

Wayne,
Outstanding image! What a great moment to capture when old mossback decides to yawn with several tropical birds close by.

I love the light on this open mouth, and he gives me a sense that he is a big one! My only wish (minor) would be to have a bit of space between the tip of his nose and the lines of the bird.
