Dark-Eyed Junco

Lately I've become interested in the possibility of using Photo Art to better isolate bird images from their bg. I posted the original photograph of this Junco image a few days ago in the Avian Gallery
(http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/ic.cgi?a=vp&pr=170799&CGISESSID=754218b2c0e2a20cd55adbcc9806707b&u=26310 ) Many of the comments then had to do with cloning out branches to remove distractions. For this image I've retained the photographic image of the bird and perch but applied a combination of filters to the bg. (primarily a combination of Pastel and Pencil Sketch from Snap Art 2 (Alien Skin Software)).

This is my first real attempt at using Photo Art. I'd certainly welcome any of your opinions on this result.

1D Mark IV, 400 mm f/5.6, 1.4x TC, hand held: ISO 500, 1/1000 s, f/9.0, 0 EV, 9 MP MP after cropping (56% of the 16 MP of the 1D Mark IV), slight NR, exposure adjustment, sharpening.

I like the treatment you added Steve. Have you experimented with texturing yet? A little texture blended in with what you have would be some nice icing on this beautiful image.

Thank you both very much for your comments. It's good to know that this image also looked attractive to you both. Thank you for the suggestion, David. I am looking very hard at texturing. I can see that not only are there a huge variety of textures available but, more than that, there are many ways of applying them. Many of the commercial filters (the ones in Snap Art that I used here for example) allow considerable adjustment of texture too. I'm currently having fun experimenting with all this and trying to refine my ability to create images that appeal to more than just myself!
