Dicentra cucullaria

Another one from last week's trip to the wildflower preserve. Although this species was plentiful, not many were in this good of shape. I liked the curved stem and the relative separation from its surroundings.

All comments welcome!

Cousins of the Bleeding Hearts !. I like the DOF here - it feels just about right to me. Great Details in the blooms with good exposure.

I like the composition and the mood of the image jeff. For my tastes, I'd probably prefer a little more dof for the blooms but I'd also hate to give up the separation with the bg. Good looking image as posted.

Jeff, good job. I love the repeating patterns in the flowers, and the DOF seems right to me. Well done!!

Jeff: I especially like the lighting and DOF management here. I think I would crop this to 5:4 mostly from the left side to eliminate the OOF green in the LLC. Marvelous find and capture. >=))>

Beautiful photo of a beautiful flower. Pity we don't have this flower here, I believe.
Take care.

Thanks all. The green in the LLC was even brighter than posted, so I did tone it down. But your crop suggestion sounds like it might be the way to go. I will be going back there tomorrow, so hopefully I can find a similar specimen to experiment with. I like the idea of more DOF, if I can still achieve the same separation.

Excellent detail and placement, and I personally like including the soft leaves to complement the blossoms.
