Prairie Crocuses

by Raymond Klassen

Gallery: FloraPosted April 29, 2011734 views17 comments
Prairie Crocuses are the provincial flower of Manitoba. Since they are low to the ground, I used a very low angle to get this. Too low for my tripod, so I used my ball cap for support.

1/60, f/8, ISO200
D300s, Sigma 70-300mm@135mm

Thanks for looking!

Raymond: Play ball indeed! Great POV and comp as well as superb DOF management. Exceptional image IMO. >=))>

PS: Was the ball cap still on your head?

Beautiful! The colors of the blooms with the reddish - yellow grasses give this a antique mood. Very pleasing. Great job w/clicking this pov! Ken S

Beautiful, emotive image, full of mood. Surrounded by softness, one can imagine a boundless prairie. I don't think we have this flower here.
Take care.

Beautifully done Raymond. Your work was certainly worth the effort. Love your dof decision and the SOA treatment of the subject. Very appealing color palette as well. Superb photography.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! No, Bill, I wasn't wearing the cap. Although that could have made this a better story...
