Marshmallow Mountain

I was looking at my old photos of Peru and came across this one, which I like lots. This is the cropped version of a color picture, but I decided to play with monochrome for a change and came up with this, which I also like.

Can't quite remember which mountain this is, but it's a well known and climbed mountain in Peru, a very challenging climb though. This was taken in Huaraz, from the summit of Pisco mountain, one of the easier climbs. Any comments and critique, well appreciated.

This was actually taken with my point and shoot camera which I take on my mountaineering trips (gotta go fast and light these days :-( )

Sony DSC T-200
Landscape mode, flash and manual exposure correction (this camera had the tendency to overexpose the shots)

Thanks!!

Looks like Chacraraju.

What a forbidding mountain and the shrouding clouds further its mystery.

Wonderful portrait of the mountain. Powerful! The point and shoot medium makes no difference to me, as I never get caught up in technicals like that. It's all about the power of the image itself. It either speaks or it doesn't, and this does!

Beatriz,

Wouldn't have known it was a point and shoot without your saying so, but I agree with Marc. It's not the camera it's the photographer. Which your proved with this very fine image. It does look a little like it's had treacle poured on it. or that marshmallow stuff they put on some outlandish sundaes.

Wow - this is crazy good. I wish the fog was at the top instead of the bottom, but still very evocative. Love this!

I love this subject (mountain summits in general), so how can I not love this photo when it gives me a view of such gorgeous details. I only wish it were larger, so I could look even deeper into those tones and textures.

It is stunning, Beatriz, the majestic steadiness of the mountain contrasted by the weightlessness of the clouds! Gorgeous image.
