I got a nice surprize yesterday while waiting in my favorite Bluebird spot when this Steller's Jay stopped for a visit. It gave me several nice poses before moving on. C&C welcome and appreciated.

What an excellent pose you captured here Clayton. I see this species in Jasper quite regularly but so far I haven't been successful in getting a good image. I might try to darken the blue/white spot in the LRC. I think I would darken the blacks a little, I'm just used to seeing then a little darker; hardly a criticism just a thought. Nicely done!!! :toast:

Wonderful pose with the erect crest!
A beautiful but often overlooked bird..
Nice eye and fine detail.
IMO, the whole image could stand a bit of darkening.
Nice image!

Wonderful shot. Real nice pose and detail. I agree that it could use a bit of darkening. Well done.

Thanks for the comments. Here is a darkened version for consideration. I would appreciate comments on the repost.

Clayton, good work catching this guy. Love the colors, and detail and esp the head crest. I disagree with darkening the whole image. The original was spot on for the jay, maybe just a tad on the branch would do.

Very nice - it takes soft light to show the colors and detail correctly in this species.

I too prefer the lighter original version and think it is closer to reality.
