Captured this past weekend while I was shooting Bluebirds. I've not seen to many of these in S. Ohio, so I was pleased to get some shots. It was cloudy, but the sun shone through for a few minutes allowing me to get a decent catchlight.

Beautiful background and perch Doug! Not the sort of environment I normally think of with this species, although I have not been fortunate enough to see one. Detail is being affected a little from the crop. The cloudy conditions helped you a lot though. :toast:

Have never seen these - great catch!
Good pose and perch.
I'd suggest moving the bird down in the frame a bit so he isn't centered .
Nice!

This is lovely Doug, I usually don't like backside views all that much but this works perfectly. I like your comp as well with the birds head at the rule of thirds spot. :toast:

Very nice capture, Doug, particularly with the back and headturn. The perch has lots of character and your comp exploits it well. Exposure is also spot on. :toast:

I have seen these occasionally, but could never get close enough to get a good image.
