From Shadow to Light

Shadow and Light play at will in the eroded canyon of Rose Valley in Cappadocia, Turkey. This was shot from a hot air balloon in the early morning, there are so many great lines in the landscape, but since you can't tell a balloon where to go you always have to wait and see what you pass, and in this case that turned out great.

I like the warm tones and shapes.
It looks like a hard masking line at the top, where the WB goes quite warm and the exposure is a bit darker.... ?

Wonderful contrast and excellent composition. There is no sense of scale IMO (I though it was ripples of mud on a river bank with some contrast play) but of course that's not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

Thanks guys!

Matt: no masking lines, those colours are in the rocks

Very interesting abstract Jorne! The way this tricks the mind is quite amazing. Without your desciption I would have been lost. This does not look like an aerial shot. But it looks very good!

I love the smooth curves and shadow depth. Even though it's a natural colouring, I would crop off the top to remove the different colour as I seem to get caught-up at the top. :toast:

Beautiful tones and texture Jorne. I would have never guessed this was a aerial shot! Very enjoyable.

This is a fascinating abstract. Without your description, I couldn't tell if it was a close up of a long shot. The fact that it's from a balloon makes it even more interesting. The lines and tones are beautiful.

That is really cool, Jorne. Very graphic. My only thought might be to avoid the black frame since the lower corners lose their squareness. HAB photography. The next big thing?
