Smokies Wildflowers

Great Smokies NP, Tenn. - 4/14/11 - I was wishing the two FG flowers were a bit less shy for the shot...

Canon 5DII, 24mm TS-E, F11, ISO640, 4/10 sec.

Larger version loses a bit in compression but has good detail

You had me tricked on this one. When I saw the thumbnail, then opened the image, I thought for *sure* that this must have been shot on large format film.

The detail here is very impressive, and it conveys a very calm mood. The fallen log grounds the shot, and the large foreground flowers add a great focal point. With regard to the log, I'm glad you included the perpendicular log in the upper left corner. That helps block my eye from getting launched out of the upper left corner.

Lovely fresh scene and well captured, love the detail here. The two flowers in front are very nice, a little bigger might have been nice but this works as well!

Wick, I like the fresh colors of spring together with the mossy log, a very pleasant composition!

I like it! The thumbnail looked a bit dissapointing, but the full versions shows a very logic and balanced composition. I like how you placed the logs and the plant in the fg. Works really well. Technically it also looks good. A very nice portrait.

I love the long leading line of the moss covered log. It's also interesting how that separates the image into two regions, the one with the nicely detailed trillium and the other with the mass of unidentifiable wildflowers. I'm also somewhat surprised to find that the composition works very well.

I love the lushness of the scene and the dertails in the shot. The comp works well for me also. Nice!

I agree, this does have a large format look to it. Great colors and comp! I have attempted similar shots with my non-TS lens and failed.
