I love poppies, they are so lovely in their simplicity . Got carried away today at the local greenhouse and bought a ton of perennials. Spring is late as it is everywhere and I could not wait any longer .I gave in too madness and bought a whole new gardens worth of plants instead of waiting for spring. Only problem when you give in to madness is I do not actually have anywhere to plant these flowers as our new house does not actually have a garden yet. I am sure this is only a minor flaw in my plan ,the biggest being there is still the threat of frost until June !!!!! What the heck was I thinking , I now have over sixty plants that have to be babied before it is safe to plant them!!!

Congratulations on your flora purchases Lorna. Terri and I have been doing the same thing but on a smaller scale. I love poppies and planted the seeds but my guess is that this last week of snow and hard frosts will have probably done them in.

Love the rich color against the black bg. The blurred area on the petal extending to the viewer's left bothers me a little but I don't know that there's any problem with it, it just doesn't suit my tastes. This image interests me and I always mean that as a compliment. I'm just not sure about parts of the blurred petal. I'll be interested in seeing what the others think.

Lensbaby shots don't always work for everyone Pat so no worries !!! I have kind of lost my way with my photography .I don't enjoy it anymore. I think I have gotten to far into trying to achieve the so called perfect shot, and the technical side of it I have forgotten how to enjoy the process of making an image. I need to get out of my head and back to what I enjoy about photography . The softness of Lensbaby helps me do this as it helps me approach my images as I would my painters canvas. I have not done a single painting since this move and it has almost been a year, so you will hopefully bare with me and my Lensbaby as I try to find my inner artist again. Thanks for you support I always appreciate your comments ! Cheers

Lorna:
I love poppies as well. Actually I like photographing flowers but living in a city apartment means I don't have a garden, just a few pot plants on the terrace :frown: So I am actually envious of everyone with a garden.

This lensbaby comp is very interesting with unusual POV. Like the backlit but would also like to see may be some sharpness in the anthers? Engaging image just the same.

Thanks Gary , I am still having trouble with taking them out of LR for posting , this shot is about half stop lighter and sharper than shown. It is so frustrating it is sharper on other sites and in LR but they lose a little when I am sizing for this sight .I am sure I will figure it out at some point!!!! It is a Lensbaby so it will never be tack sharp but I wish I could figure out how to show it better! Thanks again,Cheers

I really like the ant's perspective. This angle will be more difficult to get once you plant your poppies! I have about 2000 sq ft of garden beds, and, over the last few years, I have made a concerted effort to fill them with perennials. I love this time of year, watching everything come up.

New Beginnings !!!Seeing as I acted on impulse and purchased a lot of plants . I now have to make a garden to plant these lovelies in !!!! I ache in places I did not know I had ! I had forgotten how much work it is to start a new garden . Though this does not compare to the enormous garden I had at the old house this 8 by 9 foot space will have to do . Gardening in the dry Prairies is a lot different than the wet coast of B.C. . I have been at this now for three days and look forward to the planting part, and the the best part ,the photographing part !!!! Cheers :jump:

I really like this perspective Lorna, I also would like to this a little sharper, but that is just me. Best wishes on your gardening, I'm sure it will be beautiful.
