Forest of Moss

Made this image of a moss covered forest in the Hoh River Valley of the Olympic Peninsula in mid-April of this year. The falling rain really made the colors quite nice. Lot of yellow in the moss this time of year. Hope the branches intruding into the frame in the upper left hand corner aren't too much of an issue. Appreciate your thoughts, suggestions, or ideas on this image.
4x5, 210mm, warm polarizer, Velvia 100F

Large image provided.

Thanks

The rhythm you've brought to this complex landscape is quite remarkable, as is the color. There is almost a glow here that adds a nice vibrancy to the to the entire scene.

Very nice rain forest image Vance. You did a great job with the colors here. The glowing moss holds the composition together very well.

I love the rich yellow greens at this time of year. You did a great job at finding some order in such a chaotic location Vance.

This is pure magic :toast: Straight out of a fairytale.

Apologize for not contributing in terms of critique but all i want to do now is to sit back and enjoy the forest vicariously.

Kah, Tony, Scott, Adam, Arnand, thank you for your comments. In looking at this now on the web, it seems to be a bit darker than I intended. May need to recalibrate my monitor.
Appreciate your comments.

Electric Green  This is a nice scene that is difficult to photograph, but you pulled it off.

Incredible light Vance and a strong composition with all the vertical lines. Early spring moss have that great yellow color here in the coastal forests as well. Very nice.

Love these trees Vance, and your processing. If it were mine those branches on the left would be cropped off.

Great capture. :toast:

Boy, that's a lot of moss! I like the composition - it is busy at first sight, but it works really well and stays interesting due to all the details and the particularly interesting right half. The intruding branches do not matter in my opinion.

Wow this is fascinating Vance, the detail and color must be beautiful on a sheet of 4x5. Fabulous work.

Beautiful shot . . . I didn't really notice the intruding branches at all. You composed this scene very well and the greens are scintillating.

The glowing greens here are amazing and there are just enough strong vertical lines to give the scene some order - great stuff!

Amazing color and composition Vance. It looks like there was a green snow storm how everything is coated. in moss. I love the vibrancy of the scene.

Beautiful shot. Images from the Hoh always remind me of one of the shorts in that movie Creepshow when that metorite crashes and starts spreading that green algae on everything...lol

Hi Vance - this is a really beautiful image! I really like the composition and the glow of the greens. You mention below that it looks a tad dark to you, but I like it as is.

Great shot! I didn't even notice the branches until you pointed them out...that's not really where the eye goes and they blend in well. Now that I see them, they're a bit distracting. I slight crop from the left might help, but also might throw off the balance. Either way, it's still a killer shot...

What a wonderful capture of this surreal forest, Vance. The moss and light make this seem premordial. Well composed too - I like the moss covered vines as one of the main focal points. :toast:

It's a scene that is very busy by its nature, but your composition works very well. Beautiful scene! It snowed with... moss!
