Poppies are one of my most favorite flowers for painting and photography ,they have seemingly endless possibilities for shots. My new garden is all planted and soon ready for photographing ,I hope !

Beautiful image Lorna. The bg is a perfect complement to the bloom IMO. I also like the warm light and your dof decision which seems to me to match the light and color palette. Very fine work for my tastes.

The backlighting really makes this poppy glow. My personal preference would be to crop a bit from the left, but not so much as to make the image square.

Poppies are photogenic flowers. I like the strong colors, backlighting and above anything else, I love seeing the stamens through the lighted petals. Nice work, Lorna

Lorna:
Lovely composition. The paper thin poppy petals are really great for this sort of shot. Don't forget to do some scans of your poppies when they are out (you are so luck to have a garden).

Beautiful depth of field, Lorna. I like how the flower angles in from the corner. The only suggestion I would make is to isolate the flower from the background and bring down the exposure of the flower a bit.

Looking forward to seeing images from your garden.

Cheers,

Carol

Lorna,

Great POV, and backlighting is always nice the shadows show the interior detail of the flower in a very artistic way.
