Iris & raindrops #1

We've had another gray rainy weekend after a work week full of sunshine and balmy temperatures. This morning's overcast did come with one benefit, no wind, so I went exploring my yard for raindrop pictures. There were several good possibilities, but the best was an Iris. This image is just one of several interesting points of view that I hope to share. Final processing was in PS3 using some of Tony Kuyper's luminosity masking methods. (5D, 100mm macro, 1/25 s @ f/32, iso 800, tripod and cable release, full frame)

Iris is such a complex and beautiful flower, Mark. A classic composition with nice front to back DOF  - raindrops add to the already nice frame.

Looks like a jewel covered in jewels Mark. The image is particularly striking in the larger version. Love this one but am also looking forward to the others,

Mark: I like this one a lot. Marvelous colors and detail and the water drops are major plus elements. Nice find and a fine capture. >=))>

This is excellent. Rich color, nice clear drops, and an interesting pov. Can't wait to see the rest

Nice one Mark. Color, comp, detail, DOF all look great. And, of course, the water drops are a very nice addition.

Mark:
I find iris challenging to photograph. You have done well here. Love the post processing as well.

Hi Mark,

IMO, the raindrops on the petals really make this image. I really like the top two petals.

Cheers,

Carol

Great POV and comp Mark. The water drops sure add to the appeal of this one. For my tastes I think this is a tad over sharpened. I particularly notice it in the bottom of the image.

Nicely composed Mark, with all the different folds and open spaces, with the throat perfectly positioned. This would have been nice without the droplets, but they certainly add tremendously to this image.

You are entered in the intimate home of the Iris, Mark; in its heart. When f/32 enable to take so interesting and beautiful images it's always a good choice, for me. Splendid.
Take care.
